| Face to Face – Blind Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I doubt this is what he had in mind when he wrote it, but this is what it means to me: I grew up in a Mormon family, and when I was around 12-13 I had serious doubts about whether what I was told in church was true, and to me this song goes perfectly with doubting and eventually leaving my religion. |

| Billy Talent – Nothing To Lose Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I think of this song as the thoughts of someone as they are committing suicide. I think of a kid with a rope tied around his neck and to a hook on the ceiling, standing on a chair and that these thoughts are running around his head before he finally kicks the chair out from under him. "Need more friends with wings All the angels I know Put concrete in my veins" Not sure exactly what these first 3 lines mean. something to do with angels. Perhaps he means that he needs to see the people that he used to know that passed away? "I'd always walk home alone So I became lifeless Just like my telephone" >>>>>He has no friends to talk to or hang out with. "There's nothing to lose [by dying] When no one knows your name [when you have no friends] There's nothing to gain [by living] But the days don't seem to change [nothing in his life gets better]" "Never played truth or dare" >>>>>Never had good friends to do cool stuff with, like play truth or dare. "I'd have to check my mirror To see if I'm still here" >>>>>No one noticed him so he wasn't sure if he was still there. {Kinda reminds me of the movie The Sixth Sense – he still went through the motions of life even though he was (emotionally) "dead".} "My parents had no clue That I ate all my lunches Alone in the bathroom" >>>>>His parents didn't know that his life was going to hell. And he likely didn't feel comfortable bringing it up with his parents. "There's nothing to lose When no one knows your name There's nothing to gain But the days don't seem to change There's nothing to lose" >>>>>See above. "My notebook [his journal] will explain" >>>>>His journal his an account of how horrible his life was. "There's nothing to gain And I can't fight the pain" >>>>>He can't fight to stay alive when there's no reward for doing so, (nothing to gain). "Teach us that its just a phase" >>>>>People say childhood isn't the only thing in life; it'll get better, and that life won't always be so shitty. This line seems kind of sarcastic, like he doesn't believe that life will get any better. "When I grow up my children Will probably do the same Kids just love to tease" >>>>>Other kids tease him and he sort of rationalizes it by saying that 'it's just kids, they'll grow up and be ok people." And he's scared his own kids might hurt other children by teasing them. "I know it put me under ground At seventeen" >>>>>He fell into a deep depression when he was a teenager. "There's nothing to lose When no one knows your name There's nothing to gain But the days don't seem to change There's nothing to lose When no one knows your name" >>>>>See above. "There's nothing to gain And I just died today" >>>>>He thinks something like, 'this life offers me nothing', and then kicks the chair out from under him. |

| Dropkick Murphys – Don't Tear Us Apart Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| And yes, I know this song was written before the bombings, but it adapts well to that topic. | |
| Dropkick Murphys – Don't Tear Us Apart Lyrics | 12 years ago |

The first time I heard this song I was on the green line on my way to visit the temporary Copley Square memorial for those who died on April 15, 2013 so I always think of Boston in the aftermath of the bombings whenever I hear this song. "At the first sign of hardship, many bite the hand that feeds And when there's trouble, oh, they simply cut and run" I think of all the confusion and people running everywhere immediately after the bombing. "And when there's fear, a man will slit the throat of his neighbor In a desperate search for comfort and love" Terrorism in general. People who do these things are not thinking clearly and they have come over time to hate everybody. They just need comfort and love. "Don't tear us apart [x4] Will you show us, some hidin' in this trouble, here where it starts You won't tear us apart" The people of Boston saying 'don't let this tear us apart, we've got to stick together'. "When your spirits are down and you've lost your way And man's character once again falls on its face Will somebody please come, aid those helpless in need" In times like these, please will someone come help us. "And renew our faith in this human race" Show us that there are good people in the world too, and not just bad people. \ |

| Rise Against – Black Masks and Gasoline Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| "not that they [RA] care about politics". I'm sorry, who the fuck are you and why are you here? There's no room for stupid people on the board of a band who is smart as hell. Goodbye. | |
| Rise Against – Torches Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I know. There are some songs that I wish the title would be something like, "this is not about love" or something like that. | |
| Rise Against – To The Core Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Both that line and the next are awesome. | |
| Social Distortion – Don't Drag Me Down Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Oh my god this is fucking awesome!!! I put this in my "Favorite Songs" playlist before I even got to the second verse! The lyrics are fairly self explanatory. This world is fucked up and the people in it try to drag down those who do not want to be part of this shitty society and want to be different. |

| Rise Against – Rumors Of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Also, this is my favorite title of any RA song, I think. | |
| Rise Against – Rumors Of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I have been really depressed before and seen other people look at me like "ah, that's too bad you'll never get anywhere like this" and I think this song is just Tim flipping the finger to those people. Like, hey, I'm not gone yet, I can still do something. | |

I love this part of your comment: "I got this from Wikipedia, this will verify...." Wikipedia can't verify shit. |

| Bad Religion – Bored and Extremely Dangerous Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think that it *could* be about school shootings, and if you want to interpret it that way that is totally fine, but you don't have to limit it to shootings. This could be about anyone who gets so fed up with all the shit in this world that they harm themselves or others. But if you think of school shooting then that's what it means to you and I respect that. We all interpret songs differently and if the artist doesn't explicitly explain what each song means then we can all hear it differently, and still all be right about the meaning. | |
