This song is hauntingly beautiful I think. It can hurt, it can make you cry, it's an expression of pain, but it sounds so pretty. I think it's a girl who has broken up with her boyfriend. It's someone she truly loved, but something stopped them being together. They're gradually moving apart - "we’ll go hand from hand". It's not 'hand-in-hand' anymore, they're separated. Whilst she hates this, she's going to try to "shed some sorrow, shed some sin", she's saying she'll try to deal with it. It also seems she implies she's made mistakes - "sometimes people make the wrong moves, walking in the wrong shoes". Perhaps she wishes she hadn't made the decision she had made, maybe she wishes she could have him back but she can't. "Fill my world with hope again" seems to say she wants him back and "don't go, don't feel like you have to, only if you want to" seems to say she wishes he wouldn't want to leave. She's saying 'I don't want you to go, but if it's what you want, I'll learn to deal with this hurt and pain'. Wow, it's a tough song, so emotional! |
