| I first heard, and still hear, this song as "hate" also. I am back together with "love", for over a year now, for over 6 years total. Ever think that "vacation" could be a stand in for her being away for a while? And why did she leave? Maybe it was because "hate" told her to. "hate" is full of remorse throughout the song, maybe he is beating himself up over all of it. Maybe the taxi driver is the person who made "love" feel safe while she was on her vacation from "hate", yet the taxi driver still delivers her back to "hate" and lets her leave. He sheds a tear because he knows that he will never see her again after "love" and "hate" have reconciled. Yet even while "love" is away, she is still able to light up a room. No matter how dark her own world is, she can brighten the world for everyone else around her. Love has been waiting patient and kind; she was waiting the entire time for "hate" to come back. But at the same time, she wasn't willing to simply drop everything on a whim and get hurt again. "love" waited until she was willing to forgive "hate" also, At that point her "vacation" was over and she came "home". Of course "hate" was still late on arriving with his love, even at that point. But "hate" did arrive to show his love. "Hate" was ashamed at how long he had left "love" waiting, and still "love" forgave him. Even thought "hate" may be a little bit out of his mind, "love" still knows that she has the love of "hate" in the end. An unconditional love that can't be broken by any time spent apart. | |
