| Am I the only one who doesn't hear "haunts we'll all keep"? Can't figure out that line though. | |

I agree with greenday68 that Laura did a great job creating scenery here... Every detail is brilliantly vivid. Brutal and painful lyrics "She spent the last years of her life running from the boy she used to be Cut her face wide open, shaved the bone down thin, plumped her lips up exaggerated, a fucked up kind of feminine" The line "In her dysphoria's reflection she still saw her mother’s son." is painfully beatiful too. You get how she (the character) feels the burden of other people's perceptions of her which may not be true to who she really is: a woman. |

I love her voice in this. Angry and sweet at the same time! To me this is about not being able to be yourself and show your true self to the world and how pretending just makes you angry and miserable inside. |

| The catchy upbeat music makes these lyrics particularly empowering... Laura Jane Grace is my fucking hero. | |

So many of us can relate to this... I love it when she sings, "You want them to notice"... Makes me think of the song 'Ocean' and of Laura writing such explicit, personal lyrics back then and hoping somebody would bring up the subject of her gender identity but nobody even took the lyrics seriously. "You want them to see you like they see every other girl They just see a faggot"... Great lyrics full of honesty. |

Funny how everybody back in the day thought this was about major record labels and them "selling out". It actually make so much sense when you think about gender dysphoria. Funny too how I had never really paid attention to the lyrics before now. I love when she sings "well it hit me all at once"... So powerful. It only gets better from there. |
