Cool interpretation but a little complicated lol Sounds like a good idea for a song you should write. But to be forsaken means to be forgotten about. Seems like you took it to mean to be supportive of or something. I used to think forsaken meant that too lol. |

This song is about masturbating to porn. "I admit it, what's to say" Masturbating is still a little bit of a taboo so admitting it is a big deal. "I'll relive it, without pain Backstreet lover on the side Of the road" You can relive situations that you see in porn videos by imagining you're the actor in the video without the pain of having to get up from your seat behind the screen. "I got a bomb in my temple that is gonna explode" That's what it feels like when you're masturbating to porn, like your head is going to explode but really it's your nuts that are going to explode. "I got a .16 gauge buried Under my clothes, I play" Specifically, this "gun" is buried in your boxers. Ofcourse, you play with it. "Once upon a time I could control myself" This is where the lyrics take a serious turn. Clearly the mastur has had trouble recently with a technique known as "edging" where you can hold an orgasm on a pinpoint without going over the point of no return. This is incredibly frustrating and every time you go to masturbate you think "I'll control myself this time", but it rarely happens. "Once upon a time I could lose myself" Lose yourself in your erotic imagination. "Oh try and mimic, what's insane I am in it, where do I stand?" The deep rooted taboo is surfacing and the mastur considers what he is doing as insane. He's also imagining himself in the porn. "Indian summer I hate the heat I got a backstreet lover on the passenger seat" He's watching another porn video. The scenario being acted is picking up a prostitute. "I got my hand in my pocket So determined" If you really had a prostitute on the passenger seat you would obviously get her to take care of what's in your pocket, but the mastur has to take care of himself with his hand in his pocket. This confirms that Eddie is singing from behind the computer screen. "Discreet, I pray." This is when you inaudibly whisper sex talk whilst watching porn videos. Sex talk is basically praying to your object of worship anyway because sex is a form of worship. "Once upon a time I could control myself Once upon a time I could lose myself Once upon a time I could control myself Once upon a time I could lose myself Once upon a time I could love myself Once upon a time I could love you Once Once Once Once Once Once Yeah yeah" Great song with a great meaning. |

I think it's about an obsessive kind of love too. "I can't use what I can't abuse" seems to give drug addiction connotations. "And I can't stop when it comes to you" confirms that the object of addiction is another person. Btw, that LyricallyAnonymous guy was definitely high when he wrote that! Can just imagine the imagery going through his head when he wrote that! |

| Tame Impala – Expectation Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I don't need what I'm holding on to, but is that a good enough reason to leave this relationship? I wish I knew. I've recently come out of a 5 year relationship and I feel exactly like this. I could have stayed. My ex didn't understand. I'm going through changes even I don't understand. I'm not even sure what I want. I wish I knew. The horrible thing is I've had brief romances with a couple of people since. And then I will escape, I'll never ever have to see another disappointed face, no one to please. Every now and then, it feels like, in all of the uni-verse, there is nobody for me. |

| Tame Impala – The Bold Arrow of Time Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Maybe the demo version was about it sucking when his lady friend isn't around etc. And the album version more about just daydreaming about the flow of time, probably stoned. | |
| The Smiths – Still Ill Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I don't think it's about homosexuality because he says that kissing that person doesn't feel like it did before. If it's the same person, then do you propose that the singer used to be hetero and is now gay? That doesn't really match up with the lyric "Am I still ill?". "Have I become ill?" would be more appropriate but that's not the lyric. If you propose he is saying that it doesn't feel like before, as in with some previous guy he kissed - why would he used to have lived life as a homosexual and now he is trying to be hetero? If he's stuck in the closet then he wouldn't have had a homosexual past... I think it's about an old relationship growing tired. |

| The Smiths – This Charming Man Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It could still be that the charming man is a homosexual. I think that's what makes this song so fantastic. It's a story with an open end. Is the charming man telling him to return the ring because he is jealous that the boy has fallen in love with a girl? Totally agree that waxinglyrical's comment is the best on this page though. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Crash Into Me Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Looking at a girl through her window isn't necessarily perverted... it would be if you creeped out at midnight, hid underneath her window and peered through the curtains... not so bad if you went to close your curtains and her undressing through the window across the street caught your eye... different contexts. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Crash Into Me Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I don't think it's right to shun the "dirty" description. This song isn't just sensual. That would make it just another slow love song. This is different. It IS dirty. But it's unique in that it's slow, heartfelt, and sensual which gives it the innocent desire to make love aspect of it but it's also shamelessly lustful. Afterall its a boys dream. A boy's imagination is innocent but wild. | |

| I absolute love your description. Definitely captures the essence of this song as best as can in words simply read. | |
| Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band – Frownland Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think that's the most accurate of one line descriptions that could be made about this song. | |
| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Unlike poopancake, I don't see the chorus as the peak of his emotional pain, I see it as his resolution, his intention to get over this girl and get on with his life. He's not being sarcastic, as per poopancake. The great thing about it is it's all so last minute; the turmoil takes up the verse and half the chorus and just when it seems to be all doom and gloom, he finds the strength to see through this moment in time towards a brighter future. | |
| Moby – In My Heart Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Altruistic loneliness. He doesn't love himself ("I want to be up in my heart" suggesting he currently isn't but desires so) and others naturally do love him. But he wants the opposite: to love himself and doesn't want anybody else to love him ("just in my heart"). |
