| The 1975 – Girls Lyrics | 11 years ago |

First of all - weirdly obsessed with this song. Second of all - I always heard "they're just girls" meaning she's just a girl, not a woman, i.e. very young (he does say "eyes bright", meaning young and naive). I guess the song is him saying he was hooking up with a young girl, but she, being young, took it as a relationship instead of just a hookup. He starts to get annoyed with her because she's clingy and she's acting like he's what she was looking for. But he realizes that she's just a young girl, and he needs to break it off. |

| Fall Out Boy – Alone Together Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I teared up the first time I heard this song - weird, because I typically don't like their music. There's just so much pain in his voice when he sings it. I hear these lyrics as him asking someone to love him. He's admitting that he has problems ("It's not my fault, I'm a maniac" "troubled soul"), maybe those that he used to not acknowledge ("it's not funny anymore"). It seems that this may be someone he tried to be with before, but he messed it up because of his psychological troubles (I said, "I'll check in tomorrow if I don't wake up dead"). He's saying he acknowledges that it may turn out badly again ("road to ruin, we've started at the end" "you love my heart more when it's broken"), but he wants to be in it anyways. "Alone together" to me is him rebutting someone saying "I'd rather be alone". He just sounds so desperate when he says it. We'll stay young isn't age as much as it is staying naive, and not worrying about their future. Could be way off, but that's how I've heard it! He sounds so sad in this song... |

| John Mayer – Paper Doll Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I'm not saying that I for sure think this is about Taylor Swift, though the choice of the number 22 suggests that it is. Regardless, to me, this song is him talking about a girl he used to date, who was fake. A "paper doll" is something you dress up to look how you want it to, and something you play with. I think he's saying that she will change who she is for anyone that comes her way. "You're like 22 girls in one" - meaning she's many different people, instead of just herself. "But none of them know what they're running from" - suggests that she's like this because she doesn't want to face who she really is. "Cut the cord and pull some strings. Make yourself some angel wings" - try and be on your own, and "cut the cord" of being everyone's puppet. "If those angel wings don't fly. Someone's gonna paint you another sky". - if you can't be on your own, you'll find someone else to use you again. It's a beautiful way to slightly insult someone, if you ask me. All of the clothing he's singing about represent her different personalities she's choosing to put on. |

| The Killers – Somebody Told Me Lyrics | 12 years ago |

... Am I the only one that thinks that this song is about him being shot down? It sounds to me like he's saying she's a lesbian because he's embarrassed that she's not interested in him. "Heaven ain't close in a place like this" I always heard it as him being at a sleazy bar. "Breakin' my back just to know your name" Trying to get her to be interested in him, but she keeps rebuffing him. "You have a boyfriend who looks like a girlfriend that I had..." Insinuating she's going out with a girl. Obviously this girl isn't going out with him anymore, so that could be part of it too. "Rushing, rushing around" He's telling people she's a lesbian so he doesn't have to admit he got shot down. |

| Imagine Dragons – Tiptoe Lyrics | 12 years ago |

To me, this is about being underestimated. "Tiptoe higher", I think, is saying take your steps even lighter, because then they won't hear you coming. It's him saying, fine, underestimate me all you want, because I'll come up from behind and I'll rise to the top. Pretty inspiring to me. I listen to it to jazz me up before I take a big test. |

| Keane – Somewhere Only We Know Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This song is so heartbreaking to me. I almost cry every time I hear it, but dang, is it a good song! My interpretation is that he is losing someone in a relationship. The "empty land" is where their relationship is, he's looking back to where they used to be, but things are so different now, that place is empty. He's begging her to talk to him, and to let him in, because she's shutting him off. He's saying, let's go somewhere where it is just us, so we can be alone and talk about how to be back where we used to be. |

| Imagine Dragons – Bleeding Out Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
To me, this song is him singing to someone he loves who is going through pain. I don't think he literally means bleed when he says "bleeding out". He loves this person so much, he is saying, I will take your pain. I will give everything (bare my skin), and I'll own up to everything I've done (count my sins) and I'll feel your pain for you, so you don't have to feel it anymore. I don't think this song is about self-harm, mostly because of the line "I will be your scarecrow". He's saying there that he will chase away all of the darkness that's coming into that person's life. Just how I hear it! |
