Eve 6 – Rescue Lyrics 11 years ago
First, it's not about just one girl. Second, he isn't in love; they're just flings. When he says "I professed my love" he's using "love" in an exaggerated sense. He didn't actually profess anything out loud, he just had sex. That's it. Third, the sirens bit is a metaphor in reference to his attraction toward the girl. There weren't any actual sirens, there was no suicide, no accident. Fourth, the "I wanna see her come" part is about an orgasm. Finally, the resucing here isn't anything meaningful. It's a temporary rescue. It's just sex. The whole damn song is about having sex. Not love. Not emotion (except for the basest of). Just sex. Some people read into lyrics way too literally.

Eve 6 – Friend Of Mine Lyrics 11 years ago
This song, according to Max Collins, was actually about a male friend, not a female friend. Otherwise, the interpretations regarding a friend, suicide, Jawbreaker, et cetera are correct.

Jawbreaker – Save Your Generation Lyrics 11 years ago
Okay, I know this is coming in way late, but I had to put in my two cents. This song IS NOT about finding yourself or being true to yourself or anything like that, except maybe in a very distant way. People want to think that because they think it's cool or whatever, but obviously they're being very selective when they read or listen to the lyrics. The song IS about suicide- or, rather, not committing suicide. He's saying if you learn to love being alive then you might eventually just learn to enjoy your life. Passing open windows refers to NOT jumping out of them. The leap of faith bit is another allusion to this. Instead of your "leap" being from an open window, it can be an effort at finding happiness. The bridge- "you have to learn... be sure you wake"- is telling people not to get hung up on failure. Don't let it drive you to want to kill yourself, just realize that everyone makes mistakes and it's not the end of the world. The reast really speaks for itself. Eve 6 did a great little tribute to this song in their song "Friend of MIne," which is also about suicide. Of course, Max Collins was obsessed with the Dear You album. Anyway, that's all I have to say.
