| Scott Walker – My Death Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This is a deep song initially by Jacques Brel, with Scott's voice giving it air and powerful emotions. Love and death come hand in hand in these lyrics, as I see it. Finding true love is the same as accepting death in your life. It is a new perspective, though not a simple one. Death is so obvious and it is everywhere, looking at you, and you are looking back at it. But as sure as death is also life, for when something is meant to die, it also means it is alive. There is no desperation, there is deep, tragic happiness. You accept death and life becomes pointless, empty, just time passing before your final breath. But at the same time you become fearless, and death loses all it's power. This is existentialism from an emotional point of view. |
