I think it's interesting that VW met at an Ivy League school, a place that has some pretentious people. It is a misconception that these are a group of privileged kids. I read a couple had scholarships and Ezra has talked about his student loans. I think this song conveys disdain and confusion about people who are condescending . Lil Jon is almost used as a juxtaposition- one of the least pretentious people in the industry. |

Right on point. I see it more as a question than a statement. "this could really be a good life?" Tedder loves to use sarcasm in his lyrics and his vocal technique reveals so much emotion. At the end, it kind of sounds like a stream of consciousness ramble. Brilliant song and great interpretation! |

I agree with the Gatsby references. Stephan has a degree in English literature from UC Berkely. I see a lot of references to literature in his songwriting. |
