This a truly amazing song. Not only does it speak about the individuals depressive state going forward, but speaks to the whole as an oppressed state when inverted. Hostile strum and icepick tongue, Shelter here from everyone. War drums strum, and governments speak cold words Stay at home, where you're 'safe' from everyone Prison skin, Keeps us safety pinned ...I'll whisper your incision. Unable to break free of our bonds, Pinned under the ever watchful eye of 'security', Whispers of truth, for fear of death. Something's wrong inside, We are feeding flies with pieces of ambition. Something's wrong inside the system (the country, the population, the community, the people), Everyone turns into an 'enemy' with their ambitions to reach the top (power, greed, selfishness, duality) All our hopes are fast asleep, Spill the wrist of what you'll never be. Our hopes, The People, are asleep, (unaware, in denial, told not to think about it) Death may be our only escape to freedom (what we'll never be is alive and free) Don't pretend, I know how this ends, and who you are in secret. We must stop lying to ourselves, History repeats itself, We know who's behind this (They've done this before, we've been lead away from this truth, banned, destroyed, burned, hidden, secret) We are thrown away, In the house you made of every stolen moment. We are nothing, we are useless, we are machines, numbers, (we are thrown away when we know too much, are injured, too old, we are trash when we serve them no purpose), In the Empire they made, of every stolen life. Sometimes the best you can do is just survive. We have to fall asleep to survive, (Or "We must survive to fight back") We're killing more than the loneliness behind the eyes, To kill the loneliness we feel we must fall asleep, (Or "We're bringing the people back together," unity, solidarity) That when we're gone we'll sleep with satellites, We may forever sleep wishing we were in the stars. (This could also be "Our only freedom is escaping to the stars" Or "Only in death will we sleep soundly protected in the heavens" Or "Those who fight will be gone, and the sleeping mass will forever be under surveillance") And I'll never say that everything's alright, This life will never be alright (we will always fight for freedom), Even if freedom is achieved once more we must be ever vigilant, it'll never be alright for this to happen (Again) ...Just survive. The only option they'll give us. |
