"Roman Catholic choirs" makes far more sense in context of the song. Romans didn't have cavalries, and therefore no cavalry choirs, however, a Roman choir is a group that sings a single melody without harmony, in a sort of chanting. So maybe using the term "Roman cavalry choirs" brings about the image of an army marching and chanting? Coldplay doesn't have to be historically accurate, guys! |
