Omg not everything is about drugs. Bowie was affected by 2001 : A Space Oddesy. The movie references alienation, man and technology and the loss of humanity. He wrote a beautiful and simple song about the ultimate separation of man from mankind. I can see the drug inference but quite frankly there could be drug inferences to nearly every song written. Bowie was always interested in technology and the newest trends and tech in music. This song reflects that and leaves us pondering the big questions as one man floats tragically into oblivion. |
