Kate Bush – Pi Lyrics 11 years ago
Guys, I think if we take the digits she got wrong, we'll be able to locate where she hid the bodies.

The Proclaimers – King of the Road Lyrics 12 years ago
A pretty straightforward song about a merry hobo. I have fond memories of my mom singing this when me and my bro were kids.

Bad interpretation, Freud. I think the lyrics speak for themselves. It's not a metaphor for anything, least of all sex.

BIS – Keroleen Lyrics 12 years ago
Anyone familiar with the other version of this song, called "Kkeerroolleeeenn"? It's a hidden track on some versions of "The New Transistor Heroes," and is really slow and creepy, possibly based of the normal version played at a slower rpm. It's sung by John Disco and Sci-fi Steven, who trade off between sounding like someone in shock (the lead vocals), and a berserk screaming man (the "Wanna see her " lines). It's incredibly creepy.

My favorite version will always be the Simple Minds cover from 2001. Very catchy in all forms, though.

This song compelled me to read up on Ken! What a guy!

Pretty sure this is about people making money off religion. Something that is sadly far too common nowadays.

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Love Out Me Lyrics 12 years ago
This is the ultimate last song for the band's last album. The ending is just so final.

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Circle Lyrics 12 years ago
I just love the "Take a trip" verse. It's like Siouxsie is actually telling you to take a trip with your family and see where they go. And yes, giving them a free ticket is indeed the best thing to do (and the way she annunciates the "TOO DOOOO!!" is the icing on the cake.)

All I know is that if Siouxsie Sioux tells you to do something, you do it!

Simple Minds – 7 Deadly Sins Lyrics 12 years ago
I heard somewhere that this was written for the Super Mario Bros. movie soundtrack, and that they were asked to do it by Keith Forsey (who wrote their big hit (Don't You Forget About Me).) Then they recorded it, were pleasantly surprised by how good it was, and had it taken out of the soundtrack.

Anyway, it's a brilliant rock song, far too good for that movie anyway (I've never actually seen it, and don't plan to.)

Suggs – Off On Holiday Lyrics 12 years ago
This song makes me so happy :) Since I can remember, I've been going on trips with my mom, dad, and brother, and this always reminds me of all the places we've gone within driving distance.
I think the lyrics are pretty straightforward. Some people want to go abroad, and visit exotic places on the other side of the world from them, but the narrator is happy going to a quite spot where not many people come. Makes think of my family's getaway spot, New Brunswick.

Simple Minds – Real Life Lyrics 12 years ago
It's interesting how the length of each verse is half as long as the one before it, and how the second line of each verse starts with a number: 28, 23, and 16. I wonder if there's any deeper meaning to it other that it sounds good...

Well anyway, the song tells three stories. The first verse deals with two people, possibly quite poor, realizing they have to make the best of what they have.
The seconds verse is about events on a larger scale, concerning gang wars, violence and death. It's not quite as positive as the first verse.
Finally, the third verse seems to be describing the end of the world, with the last survivors fleeing, fulfilling their dreams of traveling to the stars.

The chorus is warning us that we need to stop seeing things how we want to see them, and open our eyes to how this could be happening for all we know, and we just chose not to see it.

Lastly, the bridge seems to be their to add a spark of hope to an otherwise bleak and kind of depressing song.

The Smiths – Death at One's Elbow Lyrics 12 years ago
I like to think it's about Morrissey warning some guy named Glenn not to come to him and sister's house, because he's genuinely worried that in his protective nature of his sister, he'll kill Glenn for trying to score with her. However the sister has other plans, and kills Morrissey. So the rest of the song is him warning Glenn from beyond the grave that his sister has gone psycho and if he comes to their house, he'll get killed too.

And then there's a loud belch... for some reason.

Probably wrong, so I'll probably end up being the one to turn that into a song!

Katzenjammer – Lady Marlene Lyrics 12 years ago
Brings to mind Lovecraft, or maybe The King In Yellow. So haunting...

I like to think this is about some sort of horrific abomination that takes the form of a frightening, yet charming lady dictator.
