Adele is an AMAZING artist first and foremost. This song is about always feeling defeated in a relationship anytime you try to stick up for yourself. The other person always has the upperhand and you makes you feel so insignificant. There is a lot of tension in the air and everytime she tries to defend herself she is shut down. Ok so here it goes... I agree with one commenter saying this relationship is doomed to begin with "Round and around and around and around we go" The same type of BS in a cycle of emotional abuse. Maybe one person has had enough they are FED up (throwing there hands in the air) but the other person keeps trying to salvage the relationship. "I threw my hands in the air I said show me something He said, if you dare come a little closer" Even though the relationship sucks she gravitates towards her lover for reasons even she cant comprehend. "Not really sure how to feel about it Something in the way you move Makes me feel like I can't live without you It takes me all the way I want you to stay" My favorite verse from the song holds so much meaning to the song. A lot of times we STAY in relationships that we are not fulfilled in just because we are lonely. We try to fill a void with a person who is just as broken as we are. This song holds a very personal meaning for me. I was 23 when I got pregnant and in a bad situation. Needless to say I listened to my heart and had a beautiful baby girl who is now 16 months old. I can relate to following your heart about the life growing inside of you. ") I agree though that the song has a dual meaning. Ms. Hill compares her child with Zion (Heaven). Thats awesome in this society who holds very little respect for life. |
