Perfume Genius – AWOL Marine Lyrics 12 years ago
This reminds me of when I was younger, and a friend of mine kept urging me to show my genitals to him.
I did, and he showed me his and that was that.
It was visual bodily reciprocation - a search for the quelling of insecurity, I guess.

It's as though my story is the innocent, childhood version, and this narrative is the adult one. Where sexuality moves from curious to demanding, to abusive, voyeuristic desire. It's about using bodies.

Perfume Genius – Mr Petersen Lyrics 12 years ago
I love this song.
I love how art is figured in it. The Joy Division tape becomes emblematic of a closeness, an empathy, which tears through time.

Reciprocation fails in this song, that is the tragedy.

Perfume Genius – You Won't B Here Lyrics 12 years ago
I think the song is about AIDS.

The call of a stranger, in this cynical but still realistic view, leads to heartbreak
but in this case:
'but you won't be here tomorrow',
the echoed vocals of 'tomorrow' suggesting an omniscience, an inevitable prophecy.

Imbued, perhaps with rage and vengence, the victim denies themself empathy for others:
'but you are hurting everyone you touch'.

In this interpretation the song brings attention to the harsh reality of many AIDS victims, and provides a fable for the unlasting solace of revenge.
