I think this song is a malicious message from Katniss' opponents. "Run fast if you can"- When Cato and the others were chasing Katniss up a tree (literally) and he said something along the lines of this. It could also be when Peeta was telling her to run. "Don't you fret my dear, it'll all be over soon"- Something along the lines of what Clove was saying to Katniss before Thresh took her (Clove) out. "I'll be waiting here, for you."- When Katniss' opponents were waiting for her to get out of the tree. "Fall back down to where you're from"- Once again, they were waiting for her to get down (or fall) from the tree. I'm not sure if they knew of Rue's niche for climbing trees, but they could also be speaking about her. Because she's always in the trees, they could be being sarcastic by telling her to "fly...from here to kingdom come", and spiteful when they say "fall back down to where you're from." It would make sense because if Rue falls from the trees, she's falling to the ground of grass, dirt, weeds etc. and she is from District 11, whose industry is agriculture. See the connection? :) |
