Johnny Cash – Ain't No Grave Lyrics 10 years ago
I have to agree with a previous commenter that this song is about unfinished business, more precisely, about revenge.

This song sounds like a threat to someone who wronged him and "no grave will hold [his] body down".

The character in this song is close to death and he can already see the "angels" coming for him and even the ghosts of his dead parents with whom he will be reunited when he dies. However, he is not ready to leave yet because he has something to finish. He even tells death not come for him yet until he decides that he is ready to die: "But Gabriel don't you blow your trumpet 'til you hear it from me".

To me, this song speaks of determination and a promise to complete something, through religious imagery.

Tanita Tikaram – Twist In My Sobriety Lyrics 10 years ago
I think this song is about drug abuse with occasional religious imagery to prove a point.

The person starts off the song by saying that they feel that they need to run away form their problems (or maybe even from drugs themselves), just like many people do:

"All God's children need traveling shoes
Drive your problems from here"

Being a drug addict is weighing the person down, and they'd like to think that they can quit:

"In the morning I wipe my brow
Wipe the miles away
I like to think I can be so willed
And never do what you say"

However, the addiction has turned the person into a hollow shell and they have done some pretty bad things to get their fix (maybe killed someone or stole) but the person still insists that the drug is not affect them (aka. self-denial):

"Look my eyes are just holograms
Look your love has drawn red from my hands
From my hands you know you'll never be
More than twist in my sobriety"

It goes on, the person saying how they stopped caring what others think of them, how taking drugs was fun, but may actually die if they continue taking it (aka. pigging out):

"You pig out 'til you've seen the light
Pig out 'til you've seen the light"

It won't be surprising if this person dies of overdose and their death ends up in the newspaper. If anything, it will be a story to sell:

"Half the people read the papers
Read them good and well
Pretty people, nervous people
People have got to sell
News you have to sell"
