It could be about many things but feeling isolated and having a war to fight, swept under the carpet by society and even those who know you, is the one that stood out to me.Without telling my story I'll just agree that many people with disability or who are anywhere LGTBQIA+, nonbinary, or abused, could relate strongly to this song. |

I notice another thought the memories from the song were TOO innocent or goody goody. I thought so too but then my memories are not pleasant for reasons. I definitely feel the middle verse, of missing the cartoon world and fantasies, the younger way of thinking we have. I wish we could all GIVE our children and all the younger generation, memories of real life that are as good as Delta's. |

I love this song and before I knew what the actual verses said (the true story of the song), I would imagine myself the sweet sixteen, on an adventure like jennifer conneley in Labyrinth... and Billy Idol a mysterious figure, waiting somewhere in the darkness to spirit me away.
The true story is such a shame. If you cannot satisfy someone, even a coral castle of true awesomeness cannot bring her back. Poor guy.
Even for a girl who loves wonderous, childlike fantasies, such as the neverending story, or labyrinth, and all that goes with it, (or something more modern lol like lots of pretty shoes) it is only transient, you need a basis in reality. |
