Macklemore – The End Lyrics 12 years ago
I really love your interpretation- it's open, giving the song infinite meanings as opposed to some of the other opinions here which are closed and restrict the song's possible meaning.
And, yes. This, Song. Is. Brilliant.

Dry The River – No Rest Lyrics 12 years ago
"I loved you in the bed
I loved you in the best way possible"
I love this part because it just sound so desperate, like saying that he gave her everything (they even had sex which he sees as the ultimate sign of his love for her, as if the fact that they had sex should mean something monumental and she doesn't see it like that ) and the way it's repeated- as if he is so desperately trying to convince her of his love
and the song ends with him still trying to convince her of how hard he tried to show her his love until he finishes on that final word, as if he has given up
(sometimes i think i look too deeply into songs...)

Sometimes in music (when it's done right- not like in some of the ghastly pop songs we see on TV where they are just trying to fill the time ) repetition can be incredibly powerful

Dry The River – Bible Belt Lyrics 12 years ago
I don't think I've ever heard the situation of a child with alcoholic parents told so beautifully and poetically, despite how sad and serious the situation is..
It's weird, but i can imagine this song being a movie (or book)...one of those heartbreakingly depressing movies that make you curl away in you're sofa and cry all day because it is JUST THAT BEAUTIFUL.
(You know what- this song SHOULD be made into a movie!)

"Cause there's no guiding light arching a line to Bethlehem.
If it's dark outside you light the fire yourself"

(I love the constant biblical references throughout their album)
In life there isn't always some sort of magical guidance, fate/destiny that will help you when times look there bleakest- sometimes if the situation looks difficult and you are all alone, then you have to persevere, be strong and go through life as brave as you can be

Daughter – Medicine Lyrics 12 years ago
I like how medicine could just be a euphemism for whatever a person thinks will help them when they feel as if they are desperate (running away from your problems, self harming, drinking..taking drugs...so on)

BEAUTIFUL SONG/SINGING

Daughter – Youth Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it is about the tragedy of loosing a love, and how it all fits in to the journey of growing from child to adolescence, along with other habits associated with a person's youthful day; smoking, drinking, drugs maybe.

I think the lines, "if you're in love/still bleeding/breathing, you're the lucky ones" are incredibly powerful and are about the fact that if you are able to bleed, to feel pain (physically, emotionally), whatever it may be, then you are lucky because at least you are still can! Some people make the transition from child to adult, with "battle scars", lost relationships, addictions- evidence of other life altering events.

Mostly though, i think it is about everything in life becoming too much, resulting in a incredibly heartbreaking, beautiful, sad and frustrating break down where, "you caused it" is repeated. Then she sings the last two verses and it's so emotional!. Then "you caused it" is repeated again- a constant shift between sad and angry, fluctuating the way teen hormones do.

This song however could be about something completely different, and perhaps i'm looking into it too much, but this is the little story that floats about my head when i listen to it....
