I think the singer just suffered a great loss or lost something important, and he's trying to move on. Risin' up, back on the street Did my time, took my chances He's struggled to come to this level and he's trying to forget his losses. Went the distance Now I'm back on my feet Just a man and his will to survive He's letting go of his past attachment, hence the lines: "Just a man (emphasis on the just) and his will to survive" as in, he doesn't want to get hurt anymore so it's just him from now on. So many times, it happens too fast You trade your passion for glory Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past You must fight just to keep them alive This one is pretty literal according to the interpretation above. He's just elaborating. It's the eye of the tiger It's the thrill of the fight Risin' up to the challenge Of our rival And the last known survivor Stalks his prey in the night And he's watching us all with the Eye of the tiger This part always reminded me of the Hunger Games, with the "eye of the tiger" being the victor and the stalker the other, past ones. Just expressing my opinion :) |
