I take this song to be about unrequited* love that she is unable to confess or confront even though it is ruining her psychologically, destroying her self-image and causing her to blame herself for her suffering
*it seems like it's also possible that she doesn't know how the other person feels about her, but she assumes it is unrequited love in order to avoid confrontation/ rejection |

I think it's about dealing with depression and wanting to be perfect, not for yourself but to please other people, but inevitably failing to be perfect, and unintentionally pushing people away because of the depression, which only becomes worse because you are not loved. |
