I think that this song is taking place while Sirius is looking for Meri- from Meri's perspective while Sirius is closing in on where he thinks she is, she's finally coming to the realization that everything that's happened was essentially because of her (or so she believes) because she didn't wait for Sirius to come back. While she did love another for a little while, she regrets it because in death she saw a young Sirius before she's taken to the Keywork but in that moment she felt nothing but unfettered love for the man she knew she cared for. It was allowing her to ascend until she began to question herself: "Is this what I need? Do I even feel this?" As she starts to come to terms with the life she had she's unhappy because even though she's gone she believes that Sirius loved her unconditionally even when his sights focused on something else, she still essentially was 'with' him during his travels. While she notices he's coming back to the keywork, she gets it (Maybe from the other departed who can't stop talking about him now that he's the one that got away) and tells him "Give them hell, buddy because you're not afraid." Upon his entering of the Keywork everything is in chaos because it's Sirius' second run and Meri realizes that he's fighting for HER, not for anything else any longer. "Oh how I've made a mess." All of the chaos in the Keywork is because of her- or so she believes. Now that he's coming back to her she doesn't have the answers to her past life because she thought she knew them all, but as Sirius approaches (or is looking for) her she's slowly becoming able to ascend again, and the glow she saw before in the young Sirius' mouth is now beginning to envelop her since she can come to the final realization that she was indeed loved, and now her man is back with her once more. Even if he isn't being possessed by the other spirits there is now unrest and chaos amongst the keywork, but it seems that both Sirius and Meri are okay with this, and Meri -- now able to move to the pure realm that Sirius saw before it got closed off -- is able to accept the majority of the events that happened and her and Sirius come to terms with their love and know it's actually real, signified by Claudio's voice becoming more soft and the insanity coming to an end.
