Mick Jagger & Bono were at lunch in Germany where they were doing overdubs for "Dogshit in the Doorway." Bono asked Mick where he & Keith found the inspiration for their sensation lyrics. Mick's reply went something like this, "Most of the time we had the backing track down. Then we had schedled time for the vocal. Thing is, we were too lazy to write the lyrics. Most of them were written in the car on the way to the studio or at the vocal session itself." That's my idea of this song. The bass line & vocal could be played anywhere w/o the vocal & most people would immediately know what the song is. It's Siouxsie's searing & haunting voice that completes it. |
