You should be sorry. You should've helped her. She was your friend! I'm sorry I take this so personal, but it really hurts me to read this. Don't you understand how much you've betrayed her by just not wanting to believe your brother did this. The image of a perfect world in which a brother doesn't do these things was at the time clearly more important to you then the love you feel for you 'best friend'. I'm really sorry, but I needed to say this. Things like this make me want to cry |

I listen to this song very often, because it reflects my feelings well. I read with a lot of interest the different explanations from everyone. Some people think the song is meaning what I also think it means. When I listen to Eva I think of a little child. The name Eva has something to do with innocense and little children are innocent. The importance of her innocence and sweetness is shown in the sentences "Kindest heart which always makes me ashamed of my own" and also "She walks alone, but not without her name" [innocence] She walks from home to school or daycare or something like that (thinking this because of the imagine with the bag). While walking she gots attacked by those older children, molesting her (and not for the first time) "Cruel Childrens game" "Mocked by men to depths of shame". She flees in a imaginairy world, because she's alone and broken and longs for affection but there's no one there to show her some or to tell her secret to. "The good in her will be my sunflower field" is about how she doesn't lose her kindness and sweetness by being through this which is an example for the singer. [no matter what she's been through, she stays that sweet sweet girl] "Little girl with life ahead For a memory of one kind word She would stay among the beasts" Reminds me of the spiral were victims of abuse often get into. While keeping their secret and mistrusting people, but also desperately longing for that someone to love them and heal them, they often end up in the same situation(s); violent relationships etc The last thing is about a suicide I guess "We kill with her own loving heart" It refers to Eva killing herself, while 'we' (all people) didn't do a thing to help this girl be protected and safe. Listening this gives me a sad sad feeling: It always reminds me of my own childhood and basically the same situation. I recognise the "dreaming the world away" part, because that's all you can do when there's no one there to help you |
