Man I just heard this today like I have never heard it before. would dare say that Rusted Root is referring to Jesus' story! "Invoke the light to shelter you 'Cause everybody wants a piece of you It's the dyin' man, what she said" ---His interaction with the people and the masses...Everybody wanted to have a miracle happen in their lives and would flock to him.---and His crucifixion..."dying man" "Yesterday I was lost and you kicked me some food Boy it was nice to be here with you" ---Again- Jesus' interaction with the masses....feeding 1000's from a little fish and a little bread (and ultimately Himself)---- I was lost and now I'm found.... Strange they chose this when it is so clearly a statement of faith... Amazing Grace, etc. IDk.... It's all in the eye of the beholder, right, but geez! I sure heard it differently yesterday than any other of the million times I have listened to this song. been listening to it for years, and never once did it occur to me this fits the story PERFECTLY until now. |

| I don't know if Miss KT is religious or not, but this sure reminds me of someone talking to God... "Callin' me everyday", "I don't know why I wouldn't follow", "Lookin' up even when I'm fallin' down"... Maybe it's just because I have recently had my eyes open to the power and love of Jesus, but I sure do hear a testimony in this song. It makes me think so much of my own journey with God. There are parts that seem to be more on a real life relationship level, but once one falls in love with Christ, this could very well be the feeling. I know from personal experience. ;) Pretty cool either way she meant it though. I love this song! | |
