Elbow – Grounds for Divorce Lyrics 12 years ago
I made an account just to correct these lyrics and let you guys know that if you go on elbow's website, the lyrics for this song (and others on this website) are a lot different. So you might all be interpreting them wrong.

For starters,
He's polishing a compass that he keeps in his "sleep," not "sleeve."
"Doubt comes in on sticks but then he kicks like a horse," not "down comes him." The latter doesn't even make any sense.

There's a "Chinese" cigarette case, not a "tiny" cigarette case.

The little town HOODS, not whores. Elbow is not an explicit band, it's not even like them to use the word whore.

He also says, "I'D bring you further roses" not "I'll bring you further roses"
One implies that he would keep doing it, but it doesn't do anyone any good to keep oneself down after a person's death. The other implies that he WILL keep bringing roses. This song is about moving on after Brian's death, not continuing to be depressed about it. Granted, they're going to keep drinking on Mondays to remember his life, but they are moving on from what they were like at one point.
