| Although it appears to be mocking others, to me it seems to be an honest self-assessment of a admittedly self-absorbed person who is "not all there." There's an equal or even greater self-contempt as well as disgust with others..the natural conclusion when every human value is rejected. But as it's so honest, it also shows an escape route -- not caring implies that caring exists, being vacant implies fullness. Feeling pain, at least, is feeling something. "We don't care," yet "we know what we feel." It's really just what a screaming baby would say if a baby had words to express itself. Sort of a pre-socialized, animal wail. It's a good four minute song for what ails you, but I wouldn't want to live there. | |
