Totally...

Just like the majority of tunes sung by Chino Moreno these days; Love and Escape.
Which is nice.

Or... one in the afterlife longing to be with their living love.

'Seems pretty mutual, anyway.

As it's something I've imagined before when I realize that I may one day experience the loss of the love of my life if he will not lose me first or we leave the world together... I get it.

I imagined wandering in the night among the places where my lover and I go to share bottles of wine in wilderness and in the dark beauty of cemeteries, only, one day, without him if ever he's taken from me by death. I'd long so badly to reconnect with him some how and to experience in even the smallest of ways his presence once again, even if only inside of my own mind - my lover and I and a bottle of cold red wine.

This song is about longing to be haunted by one's lost lover.

Which is fucking heartbreaking and totally romantic.

Glassjaw – Black Nurse Lyrics 11 years ago
When I listen to this song, I imagine, for example, a frightened, frustrated and angry man caught within an affair involving a troubled, indecisive, confused and married woman. He's "the other man," who's been hopeful to win her love. He feels deserving of her heart. After waiting, as she's lead him to wait for her to become his, he now doubts that she will ever belong to him. He wants her to see that they belong together, but she's caught in the trap of her own confusion. He fears she's slipping away.

Glassjaw – All Good Junkies Go To Heaven Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it's as if the song is speaking in contempt about God, religion, and in regards to religious and political authorities and in general, Earthly corruption.

"From the pills for the whispering..."

Whispering; 'May be a reference to scitzophrenia;

"Pills" - Psychosis is medicated; Illness is buried by medication, but not cured.

"Even children know you are sickened by your own protest..."

The children [malleable people - those easily influenced - naive - immature - or children in the literal sense] are witness to the sickness that befalls on the authorities of the world who, in turn, abuse of the underdog; The underdog is aware that Earthly authorities are also sickened by their practices, which is the reason that the authorities formulated medications for the people who are poorly coping with the state of things. With the creation of such mind-altering medications and deceptive council:

"...you make sure it will pass."

With a great level of authority, a corrupted leadership can ensure that their negative practices are accepted or, overlooked; Tolerated. Bad practices easily come to pass.

"And you made it your business to fish the tumor out..."

Some authorities, in particular, the religious, seem to take it upon themselves to perpetuate the belief that they, themselves, can heal broken souls and bodies by using various tactics. They believe that they may offer a type of cure for the spiritual and physical ailments of human beings; They are the self-proclaimed saviors of the Earth.

"...shake it out of the ones you are...[or, in the later verse, 'Out of the ones he hurt']"

This refers to a masters' methods of obtaining a desired reward from ones' fellows; This is Usury. For the sake of some personal gain, humans prey upon one another. Religion and medication are seen by many as some of the greatest and most dangerous means of corrupt control; enslavement; etc.

"You bottled divinity,"

A reference to medications formulated for emotional/mental illness, perhaps referring to their likeness as a Spiritual Savior as well...

"For the thimble to drown in..."

A thimble's a protective, hollow, steel shell which serves the purpose of shielding the flesh [of the fingers and thumb] from the pricks of a pin [while sewing]. It is opened at one end and closed at the other. The thimble serves as an excellent metaphor to describe a superficial inanimate person; victims often adopt a superficial, narcissistic attitude toward life as a defense mechanism to spare them from the stabbing pains of living with trials. They are mostly open to receiving what is given, but are often closed and hardly giving of what doesn't profit them in return. They become a hollow, hardened, defensive object.

"It brightens the children's faces when you water your old man."

Perhaps this refers to the corrupt, deceptive practices of the world's authorities bringing a false happiness to the impressionable humanity; the masses believe faithfully in these false works. The world's leadership leads their herd to believe that their practices are governed by a higher power - the Old Man.

"A sinner at gun point,"

The spiritually condemned, either condemned by one's self or another, and feeling profound guilt:

"...you keep your monkey fed..."

A primitive animal, described as a possession, "Your Monkey," feeds on practices of condemnation which includes self-medicating depressive feelings of guilt and self-loathing. "Your Monkey," seems to refer to the animalistic addiction within; self-centredness, and perhaps even an authoritative figure.

I believe that the song's speaking with regards to Daryl's negative perception of religion; the arrogance, ignorance, and hypocrisy associated with faulty religious practices, and the way that humanity warps religious principles, abusing of its properties and of Creation for selfish purposes. This song denotes religion as something much like a deceptive, toxic substance, making it relative to narcotics abuse.
