Daniel Powter – Bad Day Lyrics 12 years ago
As some have said that Bad Day is about drugs and other say it is litterly about a bad day, it could acturally be that it is both. When you think about it, Powter is experianced with inuendos (See Free Loop). Pop Music, espeially 'Bublegum Pop' has been said to contain inuendos of some kind over the years usaully sex. B*Witched's 'C'est La Vie' was said to be about, ahem, a blow job instead of whatever the lyrics sung give off at first. Bad Day could just be about someone having a rough time in their lifes at the moment aswell as someone suffering drug addiction. It's up to you to choose which one fits for you. Powter, who says he usaully writes/sings from another perspective in most of his songs, is playing the persona of a friend helping the person through their troubles whether it's a drug addiction or just an ordinary bad day.

Daniel Powter – Bad Day Lyrics 12 years ago
It's usaully people who listen to it when they're down that get cheered up by it. I enjoy it either way. However, I surpose it's only human nature. There are people out there who are cheered up by Bad Day and then there are those who, well, get depressed about it. The lyrics to me and I'm sure a lot of other people will agree with me, Powter's persona is a friend stating the complete obvoius of what is going on with the character/subject/listener and telling them they need to and will bounce back from it, they can't let themselves stay negative about things. Tthe verse stating "Sometime the system.." really gives this away and also the refrain at the end that no one seems to notice surgests that the character/subject/listener need to look on the bright side and smile at life.

I think the persona Powter is singing as on the line "I don't need no carrin' on" is him speaking as friend who is talking to the character having the bad day so to speak along with the rest of the song. Powter has always said he tends to write from different perspectives to himself in most songs.

He said in an interview last year that he wrote the chorus via inspiration from a travel agents advert, saying 'Having a bad day?', on the way to the studio he was recording and writing at. It emphasied "being taken on a cruise" to him.

Yes unfortunatly he is. Free Loop was surposed to be the follow up single however it broke chart rules (UK or worldwide, I wouldn't know) for having a live version of Bad Day as a bonus track while Bad Day was still in the charts. :(

Daniel Powter – Song 6 Lyrics 12 years ago
This was the best I could get when listening:
[VERSE 1]
Now who did you ever want to be
You snapshot the girl in Tuscany
I didn't know recommend at the time
You're acting out of line
And I don't need you anymore
And seeing something new is what I'm hoping for
I'm gonna to lose and go for a ride
Seeming that I've got time
[Chorus:]
So let's lie in the sun
You didn't want the world to know
That I'm not strong and you'll find out How your girl likes rock 'n' roll
So let's swoon and get high
You know you better come and get right
Well I don't know if we’re still alive
But the best comes back tonight
[VERSE 2]
If it's good, and you're gone
You're hoping you don’t stay too long
You taking like a fool, you bed some man
You taking like a fool tonight
And some good, some good, some bad, some bad
I’m sticking to the fight we had You’re taking like a fool you bed some man
You’re taking like a fool you know [Chorus]
[INSTRUMENTAL] Lean on me, lean on the back side stuck on alone
I’m dying, I feel that I’m cold
And everything gonna be alright, and I am what time will...
I come up, I call up
[Chorus]
*There also brief recurrings murmers of 'Best comes back' and due to Powter performing his own backing vocals and how the studio version was all mixed it can get confusing with words.
Hope this was a better set of lyrics. :)

It difficult to understand Powter diction and pronoucation on word but then if if you desprately want to hear them you have to turn up the volume to the max and listn closely over an over again. I, myself, I hve thorght this was a chill out song about a break up. The persona's lover sleeps with another and so falls from grace with the persona, which makes logical sense for a live version to follow the title track on 'Free Loop (One Night Stand)' the single that was meant to follow up on 'Bad Day' for Powter. His live versions of songs can also be clear but be warned as he tends to ad lib very well and so it fits itself in, so not all of the lyrics from the studio versions make it to the live gig. Since 'DP', Daniel's song-writing has evolved and his diction is cleared when singing on his new album 'Turn on the Lights'. The album booklet asl feature lyrics unlike 'DP' so there is only the odd error but even so they count as official. It's unfortunate that the songs from the era of 'DP' (2005-07) and some of 'Under The Radar' (2008-09) see a lot of errors since lack of official lyrics. :(
