The "shift in voice" is confusing possibly because there *is no* shift in voice. I believe the character personified in singing this song is not Mr. LaPage himself, but one of his early conquests who has made the step from Mr. LaPage's victim to Mr. LaPage's procurer. And, while Mr. LaPage is showing porn to several kids, this older child (I'm thinking, probably male) is sneaking off to a back room with a particular child (possibly a female) in order to act out what they've seen in the movies. "Soon you will be eighteen - I think you know what I mean..." Soon, they won't have to depend on Mr. LaPage's place in order to engage in their activities. |
