The line in question is a BEAUTIFUL line, simply because it's raw, real, and doesn't try to cover up real life with Christianity. Let me iterate that I am absolutely a Christian man. But I think we, as Christians, tend to cover up real life hardships and facts about day to day life with "well I'm not supposed to feel that way because I'm a Christian." And I think that it's a cop-out and a way that prevents real spiritual growth. By saying "every blessing comes with a set of curses" I think he's talking about the burdens that the blessings of God can sometimes put on us. For example, if God gives us the blessing of a big heart that cares for others during times of hardship this is no doubt a blessing because we can do amazing work for His Kingdom. But if you have a big heart like that it can be overwhelming at times because you see hurt and devastation every single day in our world, so your heart is breaking every day. Eventually that wears you down and that is when God is faithful to pick us back up. I love the line and it encourages me to know that I'm not the only one that feels exhausted from time to time, even when talking about doing God's work. |
