I'm so surprised no one has commented on this fantastic song. The way Dusty sings it, shes brings it to life and puts so much feeling into it. This song is about letting someone you deeply care and love for walk away. You have to let them go. In the song dusty continues to sing "Its over" in the chorus as if she is almost trying very hard to convince herself. Making yourself let go of the love you have for someone is possibly one of the hardest things to do. But it is a must if the other person does not feel it too, or sees other things as more important. So that is why we have this song, to try come to terms with that missing piece we will always feel. On a lighter note, A good way to look at this is that you are teaching the person a lesson. The next time someone really cares about them, they shouldn't simply walk out on the person who cares so much. And one day in time they'll realize that they may never ever have it the same. |

This song makes me beleive in the love that I have for this man. We have the most impossible circumstances in the world. But what we feel for each other. It is out of this world. There is so much feeling between us. Under his skin feels like home. I've never had this electric powerful feeling with anyone. Its not just the physical side of it. We have the same spot of sense of humor and can laugh about nothing for hours and hours at a time. Some days it gets a little much knowing that we can't be anything more due to our circumstances. I beleive its about a relationship between an older man and a younger girl. They are in different stages of their lives. Hes already been through a few hardships and relationships. Shes naive, young and obviously is very deep in the relationship. Shes worn her heart on her sleeve for this guy. And he feels guilty that he is not as serious about her or the relationship. Hes starting to see the circumstances they are both in are not great. For me this song, is having to let go. Not because you want to but because you have to. Because the person your in love with their life is taking them down a different path. And my life is going a well off route track to his. His whole life hes wanted to live in this small town city, rather than the big city we live in for work. We became close friends through work and fell for each other even though it was so wrong. We've had to keep it a secret because our colleagues can't find out. There is a lot of factors as to why we can't be an item, hes a lot older than I, and has a career all planned out. - Wheres for job is a stepping stone, I'm still working out what I want to do. The other fact is that I'm very sick and don't have it in me to make someone date me and put them through what I'm going to have to go through over the next few years, possibly life if I make it. I can't leave the city as I have my treatment here and my family is here. I'm not going to ask him to stay when his dream is to live there.
So for me this song is about sacrificing something that feels so right but there is too many circumstances that make its wrong or challenging. |

Sometimes things don't work out because of timing. Like the situation I'm in now. We aren't dating, we work together and became fast friends that started really liking each other. But we couldn't be anything more because the both of us are in very different stages of life. Hes just got a great opportunity to move away. I fell for him very quick, we have this great connection, but we are friends with benefits who care for each other but there's not that pressure of when your in a relationship and you have to text each other and see each other all the time (its impossible to do that in the work we do). I just wait patiently for when I'll next see him. But this song helps me when I start to feel like the loose cannon who has all the feelings and will be hurt in the end once its all over. I know hes going to walk away without feeling a thing. But for me, I've never felt so comfortable with anyone. We can laugh about nothing for hours and we have the spot on sense of humor. Its a shame life is all about timing. i always wonder what if the timing was good, and we were at the same stages of life. |

I can relate to this so well as I'm sure so many people can. I made the mistake of hanging out with someone from my work place. We've been work friends for a year then we started to like each other, but we are at different stages in our lives. My life is just beginning still working out my career. Hes a lot older than I and already has a career. He'll be transferring for a better opportunity and position far away from me and he'll be traveling a lot. (Hes always wanted to do this its his dream and its finally happening). So we decided we shouldn't date because it wouldn't work. So we had a friends with benefits kinda of relationship, it just happened. We tried to stop it but the feelings we have for each other are so real. We have something different, I've never felt so comfortable with anyone and we can have a laugh with each other. Our sense of humor is exactly the same.
