The Beach Boys – Aren't You Glad Lyrics 12 years ago
This is a super song. It's so innocent and whimsical... The lyrics speak for themselves, but there's actually a lot going on in the music to promote the innocent feeling as well:

The vocals are somewhat louder in this track than other tracks in the album, but they're sung quietly, not shouted. None of the vocal parts are sung in unison either. It's not sung entirely by one person, but there's no time when two people sing the same lyric at one time.

There are no instrumental melodic riffs either, and the entire melody is played out by the voice. This emphasizes the voice and lyrics too.

The music itself is very simple. There are no syncopated parts in the verse, and there is almost no embellishment by the drums or bass anywhere in the song.

The best part of the song is definitely the cheesy "I got a heart that just won't stop beating for you". The drums prove it by beating out a lub-dub just after that line

Matthew E. White – Steady Pace Lyrics 12 years ago
Definitely the easiest song on the album to get to grips with. If the lyrics weren't obvious enough then you only have to look as far as the bicycle-bell sound effect in the music to work out that this is just a 'pure happiness', 'let your hair down' song.

The sentiment is not too dissimilar to all the happy chart pop that's around (basically all of Bruno Mars ever, or things like 'Sex on Fire' by Kings of Leon)... but it's much, much more restrained. It's an interesting comparison for me.
