Rammstein – Morgenstern (English) Lyrics 12 years ago
I think the main turning point in the song is near the end where the church choir starts singing again, and afterwards it's just Till telling her how beautiful she is, maybe the choir is the "morgenstern" (morningstar), shining on her, and changing her appearence so she is seen as beautiful.

Dinah Washington – This Bitter Earth/On the Nature of Daylight Lyrics 12 years ago
I originally heard Max Richter's "On the nature of daylight", played in a film called Disconnect, which I watched recently. Only now have I heard this version, with Dinah Washington singing. I don't have words to describe it. It doesn't make me happy, and it doesn't make me sad. It makes me, emotionless. It doesn't make me think, it makes me stop, and almost get lost in time for just a moment. It makes me feel empty. But it's a kind of, beautiful feeling all the same. It makes me want to cry, yet I cant seem to. Im sad more people haven't heard this song, because if we all stopped for a moment, to hear this, the world would be a better place. I cant describe it, but if I had to, it would be simply, and utterly, beautiful.

The Killers – Miss Atomic Bomb Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this song is amazing. It gives me the impression of an old man, reminiscing on his first love. "I wonder what you came to be". This line gives me the idea that he thinks about this woman all the time. I think it is definitely linked to Mr Brightside, because the music even sounds the same at one point, and the story is about the pair in the future. "It was innocent she kissed him and she painted it black", this is one of my favourite lines, because here is saying how love can twist someone, and change the rest of their lives negatively. I think this song has mixed meanings, because it looks at young love from two different angles. One angle, is the way it can manipulate a person, and make them desperate and infuriated for you. "burning for love holding on for your life". It also looks at it from a more positive perspective, showing the glowing passion for one another, even though the childhood innocence still remains, "taking chances on a hot night, for a second there we'd won, yeah we were innocent and young". I think in some ways, this song isn't about Flowers loosing his virginity, but instead, "Mr Brightside", loosing it to "Miss Atomic Bomb"..."The leather seat the passage right, I feel the heat I see the light". I think they have labelled this woman "Miss Atomic Bomb", simply because, she has wrecked his life, but he still loves her even though he knows it's wrong. She hasn't done it willingly, but she's changed him as a man. The music video to this is so effective, as it is in cartoon, which portrays more of the theme of teenage curiosity and innocence. The man that keeps supposedly stealing her away, I think is in fact a figment of his imagination. The man is representing "Mr Brightside's" own insecurities, which is what is keeping the pair from being together. I think this song is also about regret, because he knows that he was the one tearing them apart, even though it was the last thing he wanted to do.

Johnny Cash – Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover) Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is beautiful, it means so much to a lot of people, and I wish more recognised it. NIN & Johnny have both sung this, but I think that the two versions are completely incomparable. They are amazing id different ways, for different reasons.

The Killers – Goodnight, Travel Well Lyrics 12 years ago
I love this song, its so powerful and has tons of meaning to it. I think above every emotion, he feels empty. No matter how many things he wants to feel or should be feeling, he finds himself without any. He is emotionless, watching helplessly as he delves deeper into what really lies beyond death. He has already been grieving, and full of pain. Now he is empty. "Goodnight, Travel Well" is definitely my favourite line in the song. It seems to me the only line where he truly is able to let it all out, using only 3 words. He says everything he's ever wanted to say in this one line. I can hear it in his voice, and I really think that this song is genius. Above all, he just wants whoever he is letting pass on, to be free, and that's exactly what he is doing.

The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics 12 years ago
Ah but BadBanshee, have you watched the sequel to Mr Brightside? It's Miss Atomic Bomb, in the video he is an now and old man, reminiscing on the one night he had with this girl. The man that appears to be taking her away, is not actually there, and is a figment of his imagination that is meant to represent his own insecurities preventing him from being with her. The last thing in the video, he imagines that she has written him a letter, but again, its all In his imagination. He clearly hasn't got over this girl, as his future was not bright, because it was spend looking back in disappointment at what could have been.

The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics 12 years ago
Okay, so I think this song is about not only the jealousy scenario, but Flower's himself.

"I'm coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine,
gotta gotta be down because I want it all"
-This shows that he was usually a self reserved character, but meeting this girl has changed him, and he is coming out of his shell and discovering himself. He has to be okay with everything, and let anything happen, because he wants the girl so badly.

"It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss!"
-Here, flowers is stating that a kiss isn't meant to mean much, but to him it means a lot more then he ever thought it would, and its ended up playing on his mind! At the end of this stanza Flowers begins to shout it, really stressing his own confusion.

"No he's falling asleep, and she's calling a cab,
while he's having a smoke, and she's taking a drag"
-I think that this is where people get the idea that this girl may have been a prostitute, and once again she has been on the job with another man.

"Now they're going to bed, and my stomach is sick...."
-Flowers maybe knows that this is part of her job, so he knows what to expect when she is away from him. He feels sick at the thought of her being near another man.

"And it's all in my head but she's touching his chest, now
he takes off her dress, now
let me go"
-Here, he is saying that this might not even be the case, and that he could just be imagining the whole thing. But even so, the imagination is causing him a great deal of emotional pain. "Let Me Go", states that he is not comfortable where he is, and he wants to be broken free from the worrying.

"I just cant look, it's killing me,
and taking control"
-He cant even think anymore, because it hurts so badly for him. Its taking over his whole life.

"Jealousy, turning saints into the sea,
swimming through sick lullabies,
chocking on your alibis~
-Brandon is extremely jealous of every other man that she has ever slept with. He implies that he used to be a saint and didn't do anything wrong, but now he has been changed into an emotional wreck. He is imagining all of these things, but instead of a nice dream about this girl, they are some kind of sick and twisted lullaby that's stuck in his head. He is "Chocking on her alibis", because maybe she lied him, and said that she wouldn't return to her job as a prostitute, but he assumes that she has. And he is choking on her lies, because he was foolish enough to believe them.

"But it's just the price I pay,
destiny is calling me"
-He is saying here that he is just paying the price, for believing a liar, and falling in love with someone who sells her body to someone else. When he refers to destiny, he implies that his destiny is being there and dealing with the situation, and this helps him keep his chin up, even thought he couldn't be sadder at this point in time. Or maybe that he actually doesn't belong with this woman, and must move on in order to complete his destiny.

"Open up my eager eyes,
Cuz i'm Mr Brightside"
-This line is the most dramatic and meaningful, because even though he is hurt, and in pain, he has been brought to his knees by love. He is trying to persevere and get over it, based on his love for this woman. He opens up his "eager eyes", because he is still young and naive at heart believing that she can still change her life, and turn it around for him. He sarcastically refers to himself as "Mr Brightside", saying that he always sees the Brightside of every situation. Sarcastically of course.

This verse and chorus is then repeated, to emphasise the agony he is actually in. He wants other people to sympathise with him and feel his erotic pain.

"I never"
-Flowers repeats this at the end, I think to show that In all his life, he never thought that it would come to this. It could also mean, never again, will he put himself through that kind of emotional state. Or simply that, the most ironic thing about the whole situation, is that he never even had a clue.

The Killers – A Dustland Fairytale Lyrics 12 years ago
To others, this song my be about Flowers' family experiences, but to me. it runs far deeper then that. It dates back all the way to the 1960's, where racism ran deep in the veins of American society. A black man, and a white woman have fallen in love, and that is frowned upon by everyone else. I think this song is about how they have overcome this, and found their own "Fairy-tale" place, where they escape from it all. This boy has never met a woman so amazing and beautiful, and so his "soul is set on fire". They are both dying for change in the world, but can do nothing but wait. They dream of running away together, where they can be free of the segregation, and the shame. Later on in the song, "out here the good girls die", I think means that in this fairy-tale place, she doesn't have to worry about it anymore, and she can be free to follow her heart and be as bad as she wants to be. I think "In the cadence of a young mans eyes, out where the dreams roll high", means that he has been changed by this woman, and the fairy-tale place is truly located in his eyes.

The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics 12 years ago
To me, this song is about flowers and his tendancy to fall too hard, too fast, in ways he cannot even comprehend himself. In this case, he has just found a girl, but to him it is love at first sight. He likes her more then he thought he ever would, as meeting her was probably just a mistake, but as he referes to "destiny" a lot in the song, he shows that it was fate that he happened to meet her! Anway, so whatever happened, obviously means more to him then it did to her, as she is no where to be seen. He is making himself sick by imagining senarious in his head, about her with other men. This has had a big impact on him, as he is so jealous. He never imagined that this is how he would be feeling. When he says "Jealousy, turning saints into the sea", I think he means that before meeting this girl, he was a saint and didn't do anything wrong. But after, his soul has been corrupted by jeaoulsy, and he is now an emotional wreck. He is "choking on her alibis". Because she has lied to him, and gone off with someone else. But he says that he pays the price, because he has fallen too hard and too fast for this woman. At the end, he sarcastically refferes to himself as "Mr Brightside", He is trying to stay positive about the situation, even though for the first time in his life, he has been blinded and twisted in the cruel hands of love. And he has now been brought to his knees, by this beautiful woman.
