| The song is obviously about more than just a cold at the beach. Of course that's the superficial idea on the surface, but there's more to it than that. It's fucking poetry, dinguses. There's usually going to be more than one reasonable interpretation if the writer has any skill. Anyways, the drugs thing seems like a likely explanation. I always find myself reminded of the Salinger story "A Fine Day for Bananafish" when I hear this song (a disturbed fellow talks to a little girl at the beach then goes back to his hotel room and shoots himself in the head), but that might just be coincidence. | |
