This song is about a woman finding herself in a one night stand again after believing lies. Realizing she gave her love and the guy got what he wanted. She's thinking about how she can win him over, but realizes in the end it is yet another loss. Marilyn McCoo sings this so beautifully with the pain and emotion that goes with it. In her version, knowing she's been had, she quips, "See you next time.... I'll see you next time." |

I had every Elton John album growing up...except for the soundtrack from "Friends". The song "Friends" had a lot of airplay and I had that single. I saw the movie for the first time in 1979 and fell in love with "Michelle's Song". This along with "Honey Roll" and "Can I Put You On" was like getting the missing pieces to Classic early Elton John music (which is the best IMHO - by far). His early stuff still stands up today. |

This song is very melodic and catchy, although the subject matter is depressing and about people who are trapped. The lyrics for "Rotten Peaches" were actually written by Bernie Taupin (a straight married male). I think this is a song about different heterosexual males caught in unique situations that they are not used to. "...left from the dockland two years ago now"...."no green grass in U.S. State Prison"..... "no one to hold on to when you're sick for your wife" ... and in desperation did things that they didn't necessarily enjoy. |
