Slayer – Ghosts Of War Lyrics 12 years ago
One who feels it necessary to dissect Slayer lyrics doesn't get the point behind Slayer. I'm sure they pretty much put out there what they want to say. You either like it or not. Although, in this case, this song is more justified than most. It's about dead warriors -- all throughout history. It fits the 'South of Heaven' theme as all war is considered war against God and Satan revels in the destruction of God's order. Hence the 2nd coming line in 'South of Heaven': the Anti-Christ and the Final War. If there would be any angry dead, it would be dead warriors, right?

There's also the notion of a conflict, like that of a one who wants to join the rest of the world but is overcome by paranoia. Rather implicit in the song title alone.

I have to agree with this opinion. Some have mentioned a soured relationship & a self-destructive person. If you know why Oliveri was kicked out & the situation he got himself into post-QOTSA, it becomes crystal clear.

Queens of the Stone Age – The Blood Is Love Lyrics 12 years ago
A lotta good opinions here. One factor: the music itself. It's got a driving beat reminiscent of one under the influence of some obsession as they close in on a goal (another person, perhaps). I was sure it was about vampires. As much of 'Lullabyes' relates to Grimm's tales, it's still a valid interpretation. Yet, this band is as fond of oblique lyrics & moody imagery as it is blunt expression. All I can say about this song's meaning: it's as much a mystery now as when I found what's been opined here. Frankly, it would be appropriate for some blend of an earthly obsession & the ending line is meant to identify obsession & it's death with vampirism. PS, the screams & moaning are certainly there.
