The Goo Goo Dolls – We'll Be Here (When You're Gone) Lyrics 4 years ago
@[MusicAddict90:39617] that's what I was thinking. Just heard it for the first time recently. A few years ago I visited Buffalo. I know the band is from there and the first verse immediately made me think of the many abandoned houses I saw there

Chevelle – Highland's Apparition Lyrics 12 years ago
i'd like to add an interpretation of the lyrics that doesn't involve aliens, ghosts or religion.

im sorry for the lack of organization in this post, i just type my thoughts as they come to me, at first i was going on the idea that the song is about a dream, then i start to think its actually about Macbeth (play by Shakespeare).. then at the end i think its about dreaming that you are Macbeth

i feel most of Chevelle's songs are either about society, or the human mind, this one being the human mind

i feel it's about the dreams of a man losing his mind

first verse. see it, startled afternoon. wakes up from a nightmare

then goes to a shrink about to see what it means (i had to ask or dare i ever know)

tell us we are demented (expecting the shrink to tell him hes crazy)

watch as attention span hold so fast, then goes up in smoke (tries to focus on whatever he's doing during the day, but cant pay attention because hiss mind keeps drifting back to the dream)

i dont think youre nervous enough, it happened to show its own face (youre not as worried as you should be about what the dream actually means, the dream meaning the man is losing it)

search for the soulless ends (i dont know this one, maybe try to figure why hes losing his mind)
now point him towards rest (get him to go to sleep)

OH SHIT!!! I JUST REALIZED!!!!! THE SONG'S ABOUT MACBETH!!!

macbeth takes place in the scottish highland. there are apparitions that foretell macbeth's downfall after he kills the king so he can be king.

gonna leave my original idea up there just cuz, and now explain the first verse under my new theory

the first verse is about macbeth struggling with his conscience after killing the king and other people

i dont think youre nervous enough(hes not worried enough about the predictions of his downfall)

second verse starts with "crowning" macbeth crowned after killing the king

awoke up certain lays a tomb her tree holds it

(the prophecy was the trees would kill macbeth, the forest would walk to his castle and kill him, then what happened was the attacking army cut down trees and carried them for cover, and it looked like the forest was marching

cetain lays a tomb, he knows hes gonna die, her tree holds it. "her" being the forest, her tree holds it ("it" being his death,

you wont find me curling up, a place that should make sense (i dont know how it fits with my macbeth theory, but it does fit with my dream one) you wont find me curling up to go to sleep, which would make sense if i wasnt afraid to sleep beacause of nightmares (maybe it is macbeth, he fights a war he knowws he'll die in instead of curling up and surrending like would make sense

arms out pointing sit and stare at this proof, this living proof (everyone pointing at the army of trees coming towards him, proof of the prophecy being true)

sun's up, braver, hands and legs untouched (brings me back to my original thought of a dream, maybe a dream about macbeth, maybe one night Peete had a dream that he was Macbeth

Chevelle – Letter from a Thief Lyrics 12 years ago
Pete said in an interview the song is about a guy who stole equipment from them. their lyrics always go deeper

the song is about a thief, who was forced into a life he didnt want by cirumstances he cant control

i lead when everybody sleeps- obvious, a thief does their work at night
so few ways to cover up the old ruins- the man has emotional damage from the past that he can only hide for so long

lost in a finger forced to lie, this sends us medicating- he's forced to live a dishonest life, does drugs to cope

if you ever enter my mind, stay there - (spoken as the thief) see it from my side, either defend being a thief, or fool them into thinking youre honest, either way youd do the same thing if you were in my position

solitude, waste of a man- no friends, no family, dishonest living, he's nothing, he has nothing

this fades as soon as the sun sets- once night comes around, its time for him to go to work stealing, so at night he;s the king, whatever he wants he can take

i now own this fatal role that lives- im not sure on this one, maybe he shouldnt be alive because of whatever circumstances forced him into this life

imagine here's a better feel- he doesnt like what he does, or who he is

told to dissolve- stop stealing
or choose to fade- or fade out of the world (go to prison)

or stay here- or get better at what he does

just my take on the song

Chevelle – Roswell's Spell Lyrics 12 years ago
the great thing about Chevelle lyrics is that everyone can interpret them differently.

to me this song is about a fantasy, and wanting it to be real so badly that you lose yourself in it "thats why i'm burning out inside, with a need to know oneself"

the aliens are just the particular fantasy the subject of the song is lost in, aliens are actually the least important part of the song, interchangeable with any other fantasy. replace them with things from say, the wizard of oz and the song is still about the same thing

does anybody really see anything?
