"He was the Congregation's vagrant With an unrequited love. When your passion's exultation, Then finding refuge is not enough. She was the youngest of the family And the last to be let go. They decided they would try And make it on their own." I see this as a man who is wandering around and has this love he wants to give out, but no one returns. His love was passionate and intense. He couldn't just ignore it. She literally was "the youngest of her family" such as the youngest sibling who is watched over carefully and then let go to the world. These two then met, fell in love, and "tried to make it on their own." by moving out to their own place. "When July became December Their affection fought the cold, But they couldn't quite remember What inspired them to go. And it was beautifully depressing Like A Streetcar Named Desire. They were fighting for their love That started growing tired." This means as the relationship (and weather) change they're having difficulties with how they feel about one another. They're starting o see the flaws of one another and can't get past them. A street car named desire is a depressingly beautiful play about newlyweds, cheating, rape, love, hate, and insanity (go watch it! lovely). Their love is literally growing tired, they're starting to fall out of love. "Money lost momentum And the bills were piling high. Then the smile, it finally faded From the apple of their eye. And they were young and independent, And they thought they had it planned. Should've known right from the start You can't predict the end." While they're falling out of love and having difficulties, their fighting maybe affecting work or/and they just cant keep up with the bills now. because of all the money stress and failing relationship stress they're smile is literally fading, like depression. the next line is reminiscing about a young couples love and their thoughts on the world and how they planned to live it. It then goes on to say you can't predict your future. "Oh, memories, where'd you go? You were all I've ever known. How I miss yesterday. And how I let it fade away" The chorus is just referring to the beginning of their relationship. Every song I've looked at (from Panic at the Disco) has comments that it's about Jon and Ryan. And yes I bet one or two songs are about them but not every song. maybe this is about Jon and Ryan, but I would be utterly disappointed if that's the case... they have new members now, and from what I know on ready to go (which they stated was about them) and maybe another song is about them. I don't think they would linger this long and make everything about them but I believe the meaning is just a simple -what the words say this time, just said in a poetic way (of coarse!) My view maybe wrong, but then again its an opinion on the song, and how I picture it when I view it in my head |

| Panic! at the Disco – Turn Off The Lights Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I believe this song (in general) is about being alone. He's at one point so desperately alone he turns to "the devil". His consequences are literally worse than his ego because his ego got him there and the consequence is affecting things now. He (like most of us) sets his expectations high and because of that he always fails because of this he stops caring, he'll take all the chances he wants (like being with this girl: "turn off the lights Turn on the show for me tonight") and by the line: "like the man I know I'm not" a "man" in his view would take these chances.... and even though he's taking them now to, he thinks and believes just wont live up to the expectations. "how in god's name did I survive?" seems to be obvious as to how did he survive my past actions. Also the part of: "Once it falls apart my heads in the clouds So I'm taking every chance I've got" seems to mean that hes going to take chances and he what he wants because afterwards he may go insane or a less dramatic form because he'll be back where he started. Hey maybe this song is about his dad.... but to me this song is about expectations, loneliness, and takings chances. This interpretation may not make the most sense, but I hope you understand how I see it. |

| Panic! at the Disco – Stall Me Lyrics | 12 years ago |

"All of my dreams wake up to despise A world I once loved" I see this song as starting out as a dream. He's being rejoiced and loved in his dream and then he wakes up and is unhappy with how things are. He then goes on to in a way accuse the girl that she has changed and doesn't understand why she wanted him and lead him to love her. "Why did you bring me in If you knew what you'd become" in the part : "She's waiting to kickstart me So just stall me" it could mean that she is trying to arouse him (or him to just be more interested in her, etc) and he doesn't want that and asking to be stalled. "I had a rosy dream You gave up on you And I gave up on me Well love came along and said, Leave them be." Another dream obviously.... and it seems to me that its saying what he wants, he wants her to stop being like she is now and same thing for him. The love part is saying either leave them how they were in the beginning or how they are now. which I'm not sure, but interprete that to your own liking. "I'm singing to empty bottles everywhere, everywhere" I assume this means he is drinking away his problems And the rest goes along those lines. I absolutely love PATD so I just figure I'd let others see (and help) my views on their poetic songs. Now this could be completely wrong but it just my thoughts on the song. Hope it helps your interpretation. |
