I think this is it but it goes further into being abandoned. The third verse really sums it up.. "You wanna run away, run away / Just get on the fucking train and leave today". You don't runaway with other people especially if its a spur of the moment thing. He goes on proclaiming her loneliness and anger, "Fighting all alone, with yourself, with yourself". She would do anything to connect to another person even fight but she's so alone she can only fight with herself. And you just wanna feel like a coin that's been tossed In a wishing well, a wishing well A wishing well, a wishing well Well you're tossed in the air And you fell and you fell Through the dark blue waters I think these are the most important part because the title specifically draws attention to the well. She wants to be tossed as if tossed into a wishing well. She wants someone to have faith in her just as someone would put all their hopes into the coin they wished on. This is what she wants but it doesn't happen. Instead she's just discarded. There's no wish, hope, or faith attached to her. To go along with the suicide, "Feeling your head pop" could be a gunshot. "And I gather the ashes / In that hole in the ground", is an allusion to the grave and cremation. |
