I think this song is about the wife who loves her husband very much but doesn't understand that he loves her equally. The line "This Ain't nothing new" is repetitive, which probably means that the wife is complaining that her husband doesn't care enough about her and the family, and always makes them wait. She says the line again and again to make her husband feel guilty for not being there when she needs him. There is no doubt that the wife truly loves her husband (otherwise she wouldn't wait so often), but deep in her heart, perhaps she is tired of waiting - but she doesn't know it and that's why she keeps waiting. The husband also loves the wife very much, and he is not happy that she's having to wait. That's why "His heart is breakin' 'cause she's there alone" and "He didn't stop all day too eat a bite". |
