Verse 1 reminds me of the Japanese onslaught and subsequent occupation of the Philippines. Verse 2 reminds me of the Battle of Manila in 1945 during the American liberation of the Philippines. The chorus reminds me of MacArthur's return to the Philippines and the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and the bridge reminds me of guerrilla warfare against the Japanese during that time. |
