Imagine Dragons – Demons Lyrics 12 years ago
I've always saw this song as from the point of view of a person who's got darkness inside. They love someone, but they feel like if they actually were in a relationship he'd just hurt them, and he wants to save them from that.

The Servant – Cells Lyrics 12 years ago
I've always sort of thought this song is being sung by an assassin. It sort of goes with sin city, don't it? He's stuck in this job of death to pay for his house, and lives in states of either apathy or worry, because as an assassin there's always a chance he'll be a loose end to tie up- once the mortgage is done, he can retire. Everything about his job is repetetive and meaningless, and the more he does it, the more pointless everything seems, until even his relationship with his wife is losing interest, the line with the chinese food and the tv seems to paint the picture of two people eating takeaway chinese out of cartons and watching tv- the most interest he shows in her, besides sex (I've always heard it as "all I want to do I want to do IN you) is looking for her reflection. He dresses nondescript (like a charcoal sketch, black and white) perfect to avoid being picked out. The line that really makes me think of an assassin is the line "They annoy me those who employ me,they could destroy me,they should enjoy me" He's annoying by his beaurecrat bosses, who could destroy him with evidence of his activities or because, once again, he's a loose end, when they should just enjoy having a tool that will do what they want unquestioningly. At the end, he gets morbid and talks about how death is happening all the time, but we're still here (the little death of cells in the body, ever dying and being replaced with no discernable difference to the whole.) That's just my interpretation, because a bored guy who likes his wife and video games seems too tame for such a bitchin song lol

Pendulum – The Other Side Lyrics 12 years ago
I've always thought of this song as a man experiencing his final moments, and his travel through the underworld. He dies, and he hears these voices talking to him, telling him he'll be taken through the gates of hell, where they'll "drag him from where you are to where you belong" which to me means he'll be judged, and placed where he belongs- whether that place is above or below. The voices also explain some of the real truths to him- that these spirits (souls) are in everyone, and surround everyone all the time, even if we can't see them. They're telling him not to fear, that his soul is precious, which seems to fit with the christian view of the afterlife, that each side is trying to obtain souls, and that every one counts. And he has to pass through some sort of limbo or trial to reach his final destination, which is expressed by him saying that he "can't sleep till this is done." and that he's surrounded and pervaded by the spirits, and they're communicating with him on several levels "they're in my head, they're in my soul."
