Uhh... the crusades happened because Pope Urban II and the Catholic Church sought to restore Judaic sovereignty in Israel- the land that the Jewish people occupied from the time of Moses. Just so happened many Christians sought to restore self-governance to the Jews there as well considering the Messiah promised to the Jews is the same Messiah professing Christ-followers esteem as the Christ, the chosen one from God promised to Israel. Jesus taught the disciples to "love their enemies," and "pray for those who persecute you." The Quran and the prophet Mohammad teach their followers to "slay their enemies" and "kill those who persecute you." Quran 1:91-193. |
