I love how disc one on the CD version of Sandinista! starts with a tounge-in-cheek rap parody and ends with this song, a gospel parody. Pass the hubcap please! |

| I always enjoyed how Neil puts pop culture icons in his lyrics. It makes the song more personal, like it does with Marlon Brando in "Pocahontas." | |

"I'm at the end of my rope / and I feel like swinging" This is like "art is hard" for me. It's hard to genuinely express yourself through art unless you're miserable. The critics aren't going to love you unless they can see you bleeding. You can't be happy and critically acclaimed. This song is so good. The end makes me want to cry every time. |

The first time I listened to this album in full I got goosebumps at the end, when they repeat "Good friend, how loud do..." It still gets me every time. What a song. |

I love how this song sounds during the last chorus. Joe is hacking at his guitar and he gets a bit off-beat while the other guitars float around and horns come out of nowhere... all the while, Topper's beat is steady. It really sounds like a parade - everyone is in their own world but they're marching along together. I could listen to this album for the rest of time. |

"Must be a CLASH! There's no alternative!" I always get a kick out of that line. |

| The Clash – Junkie Slip Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It sounds so sleazy - it's a perfect fit with the lyrics. | |

Man, this is probably Joe's best vocal performance. This song has Great Depression feel about it. When I saw the film Cinderella Man I kept thinking to myself - "this song should be in this movie!" RIP Joe. |
