Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know Lyrics 11 years ago
To me this song is about a guy who has all these mixed emotions about a breakup he had with his ex. He hates that she has cut him off and wants nothing to do with him. Out of courtesy and kindness, she offers to be his friend. However what is implied is that type of platonic relationship didn't even work out. This is reaffirmed when the she sings that regardless of whether they were friends or in a relationship she still felt that everything she did was wrong when at times it probably wasn't. She saw that even if they were friends they could not ever truly be since he was still hung up on how he saw her when they were in a relationship and still treated her in the same manner.

Maroon 5 – Payphone Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this is a song about a person who is looking back and questioning about the breakup and then about their relationship. To me the first line is essentially about the person saying how they spent so much time changing themselves for the other person and in a sort of disbelief they're asking what ever happen to all those plans they had made with each other. They're asking the other person "can we try again?". In the end the person comes to terms with it though. They say that this person does see a future with them anymore and doesnt even try to see what happiness they had in the past, which is communicated in the line "Oh, you turned your back on tomorrow, Cause you forgot yesterday". The person is saying how they're not ok and how they're stuck this sadness of what could have been by saying the lines "I've wasted my nights,You turned out the lights Now I'm paralyzed, Still stuck in that time,When we called it love"

The Avett Brothers – If It's the Beaches Lyrics 12 years ago
this song really does describe a certain point in my life. my ex bf and I had our first kiss and everything on a beach. the beach became a place where we had such happy memories of love and it was the place where we celebrated our anniversaries. after being together for a while, we fought and argued basically everyday to the point it had drove both of us crazy. with a lot of hesitation from both sides, we broke up. listening to this song made think of how i had felt after the breakup. i wanted to go back in time to the beginning time when we were happy and i wanted to go back to the beach and experience that same love, excitement, and effortlessness that had been associated with that place. this song to me is about a person almost in a way pleading to go back to a time when them and their significant other was in love. the person is saying just remember and go back.

Pink – Try Lyrics 12 years ago
I can relate to this song a lot. I interpret it as the aftermath of breakup from a significant other. In the beginning, she is wondering what is he doing...which I believe is only natural after a breakup with someone whom you had loved. She reflects on the relationship by saying "how it all turned to lies I think that its better to never ask why". I related it to how at the end I was reflecting on our relationship and reflecting on how my ex he kept lying about things that eventually hurt me, but in the end I realized that sometimes its better to not question about what happened in the past and to just let go and move on.

The next verse "where there is desire.." is explaining how when there is something really good like desire and passion in a relationship there is also something strongly negative like getting hurt. But she reassures herself that, that doesn't mean you can't recover. The message is strong, " you gotta get up and try and try and try", meaning you just have to put yourself together and try to live the beautiful life you have.

"Ever worried that it might be ruined..." is about the fear about loving someone and it getting ruined again. However, Pink explains that of course theres always that chance but repeats "where there is desire" to say that if it ever happens you just need to pick yourself up again and try and try to move on.
