I agree with ClarinetDreameron What I've understood is that they have been getting to know each other and trust issues arise, mostly from the guy's part. Towards the bridge you would notice she's raising her voice, telling him not be shy and just to be honest and to say / express how he feels. Obviously he's afraid of rejection and is having anxiety attacks but she wishes he would just let it all go and just get to know each other and see where it takes them. That's why I love this song ! ;) |

By far, this is my fave song of Maroon 5. I think it's sweet of Adam (or the guy) to do such a thing. Although it can be really hard for a guy's pride to suck it all up just because he loves her that much. And it would've been better if he would just be honest and communicate that he wasn't feeling any good about it anymore. Then again, it's a song of what usually happens / how one feels when in the heat of an argument, fight, misunderstanding. The perfect reaction is to make a white lie to salvage everything. |

| For me it means the girl thinks he's not there for her and maybe she has been doubting him. But He tells her I've always been here, but I've been "carrying on", too, and living my life (not because I am leaving you but I just want you to calm down and figure out what you need to figure out, understand in your life / what's happening to you) but repeatedly tells her that he has always been on her side. :) | |
