Sufjan Stevens – Earth Lyrics 7 years ago
I have three things to say about this:

1) as usual, it's a fantastic piece of music.
2) I think he's speaking of the fact that the earth sits apart from us because of the way we separate ourselves through being competitive and not respecting the planet.
3) at the end, it seems like he is playing out the scene of someone, at the end of his life, that sees what is really important. That's why he calls himself an idiot.

Again, A fantastic piece of music and part of a wonderful suite.

Kate Bush – Snowflake Lyrics 13 years ago
What a fantastic journey this song details. From his birth in the cloud, the snowflake is searching for his mother. From the mother's perspective, she sings softly back to him, "keep falling, I'll find you." Among all the snow, she'll find him. That is her repeated promise throughout the song.

So many layers possible with this evocative song! Since it's Bertie and Kate singing to one another, it could be a metaphor for his growing up.

It could also be mother Earth singing to her tiny creation as it left the cloud and headed to earth.

There could be others. I get lost in the beauty of it all to think beyond those two images.

Kate Bush – Lake Tahoe Lyrics 13 years ago
I adore this song. In the final third, while the dog is "dreaming" the listener realizes that the dog has died and he's "come home." The woman then shows him around his new home with her in paradise.

The song speaks of love that transcends species and time.
