I definitely think this is about death, in general.. Wondering what the meaning of life is, is this the rapture? Why is everyone and everything dying? Why does it have to happen? and he ends it by sort of says "well, god, the power is yours, it always has been.. it's never been ours"... It's like an epiphany, that we're powerless, and all headed to the same place.. but he expresses it in such a beautiful way.. it's amazing. |

I think it's about seeing the darkness and destruction in life, realizing that the good in humanity is gone, and facing the fact that we're going to die in this world just as it is.. never seeing the light. |

Both he and his sister went through the same abuse.. they experience pain similarly, they had a similar upbringing in that sense.. and though he wasn't always the nicest to her when they were young, he loves her dearly and doesn't want to see her suffer, he wants the best for her.. |

Being a musician myself, and hearing the passion and sorrow in Antony's music, I feel like the masochism hinted at in his music is derived from an abusive relationship he was probably in when he was younger. This is not the cry of someone who gets complete pleasure from being beaten... it sounds like the cry of a man who's been abused his entire life, and it is the only way he knows to please someone he loves.. I think he asks to be beaten because he loves the person, and wants them to be happy.. |

also: "my eyes are coral, absorbing your dreams", being so attentive to that person's every need and desire, regardless of how attentive they are to yours.. "my heart is a record of dangerous scenes, my skin is a surface to push extremes".. I think this is his way of saying that he's experienced irreversible pain and abuse, which is forever embedded in his heart, and his skin is the shell which has become nothing more than a body for his lover to abuse.. He sings of abuse in a lot of his music.. Fistful of Love is a good example. |

I feel like this song is about loving someone who physically abuses you.. you still love them, regardless of how badly they treat you, and though he knows it's wrong, he can't help it. He wonders when he'll ever be able to break free from the vicious cycle of being in an abusive relationship.. That's what I think it's about. |
