@Salmonnerdz, you're wrong. Sorry to be pedantic, but this was written during a time when Damian and his wife were splitting up gradually, so it's a woman. I don't know whether it was the burning-out hot point at the end of the relationship or for another woman, but I think it is the former. This is because the reason she split up with Damian was because they didn't see each other enough due to touring et cetera. Well, anyway. Great song! Very atmospheric. I have one little thing to add to this; some of you will probably think I'm reading too far into it, but '21 days' maybe could correlate to the menstrual cycle? Just my interpretation. |

I'm not gonna try to explain this - everyone else has done a great job! This song reminds me of winter for some reason. Well anyway, did anyone else think that 'zoo' may be a metaphor for school? I mean, people that go to school nowadays will know what I mean. It's so loud and noisy and you know, connotated with being locked up. Just a thought. And by the way, if I had one wish, it would be for guitar skills as good as Jack. :) |

This is such a good song. I love how Amanda hasn't conformed to just making songs rhyme and scan. It allows the lyrics to have a much more direct meaning. Well anyway, I think it's about how a lot of people don't forgive themselves for previous mistakes, although mistakes are very easy things to make. They just let the guilt build up until they despise themselves. And when you hear this, it makes you realise that it is pretty stupid to hate yourself. It also has the moral that you shouldn't look down on people less fortunate or successful than you, because you could easily become one! |

But in their desperation to be 'good' parents, they end up pressuring the child, and he runs away. Such a sad, common story. |

This is an awesome atmospheric piece of music which I think shows that The xx don't just have a talent for singing. It reminds me of a lullaby but it also makes me think I could do anything! It annoys me how they used this on Fat Families. :( |
